Design Your Own T-Mobile Sidekick Shell

A newly designed T-Mobile Sidekick went on sell this week. The new sidekick has the same functions of its predeccesors, but with a slimmer and sleeker design. You can read the full T-Mobile Sidekick specs to see what’s new. One of the biggest editions is the custom design shells that are available. It seems like the trend these days is to make gadgets more personal with designs and colors. Dell has really been pushing this over the past two years. Now you can personalize your new Sidekick with a number of shells. You can see the entire list of sidekick shells on the sidekick website. Not only can you choose from the available shells, but you can create one of your own. You can add any image you want along with text. It’s kind of cool how it takes you through all the steps. The website says that the phone ships out after 5 days. If you want a truly customized phone I suggest you check out the new T-Mobile Sidekick.

Get iTunes For Your Blackberry With Media Sync

Yes it’s true. Now all you Blackberry users out there can have iTunes on your cell phone. You no longer have to look at iPhone users and wish that you too could have iTunes on your phone. Well, let me say, you don’t exactly get to have iTunes loaded onto your Blackberry, but you can sync your Blackberry with your iTunes library on your computer. With Media Sync all you have to do is connect your Blackberry to your computer and your iTunes music library will transfer to your phone. You can download the Blackberry media sync software for free. You can also see a demo of how the software works. In the demo I like how they show the soon to be released Blackberry Bold. I can’t wait for that phone to hit the market! Now if you’re a Blackberry user you can be as “cool” as all your iPhone friends.

MetroPCS is Best in Customer Satisfaction According to J.D. Power and Associates

If you’re a MetroPCS customer then you’ll be happy to hear this. J.D. Power and Associates has named MetroPCS best in customer satisfaction. This is only for prepaid providers. I’m not really sure why they wouldn’t lump all cell phone providers into one category. Oh well, I guess they have their reasons. Congratulations all you MetroPCS users out there! Here’s the full press release for your reading pleasure:

“MetroPCS Communications, Inc. (NYSE: PCS), the nation’s leading provider of unlimited wireless communications service, earned the highest ranking in the J.D. Power and Associates third annual Prepaid Customer Satisfaction Study.

The J.D. Power and Associates 2008 Wireless Prepaid Customer Satisfaction Study(SM) provides a comprehensive review of wireless prepaid service and is derived from interviews that occurred from February 11 to July 1, 2008. MetroPCS was rated highest by consumers in the overall prepaid satisfaction index, scoring well above the industry average, in the areas of brand image, cost of service, account management, initial activation and service plan options.

“The J.D. Power and Associates study is another example of how MetroPCS is committed to consumers,” said Roger Linquist, president and CEO for MetroPCS Communications, Inc. “MetroPCS offers an affordable, worry-free, and quality wireless experience. We are truly honored to be recognized by the highly-regarded Prepaid Customer Satisfaction Study from J.D. Power and Associates.”

MetroPCS’ plans range from $30 to $50 per month and allow subscribers to talk all they want, 24-hours-a-day, seven days a week. Unlike most carriers, MetroPCS does not require a signed contract, which means that consumers can activate service without going through a credit check or paying a deposit. While options and services depend on the selected plan, subscribers can further enhance their service with “unlimited” advanced feature packages that include voicemail, caller ID, call waiting, three-way calling, text and picture messaging, push e-mail, mobile Internet browsing, mobile instant messaging, and the recently announced unlimited Metro411, a voice-activated, premium directory assistance service.”

The phone will have wifi capabilities and it’s a 3G phone. The phone is set to be released in the next couple months. My bet is that it will hit Sprint stores first. Will Cell Phones Make Digital Cameras Obsolete?

My prediction is within five years digital cameras will completely go away. I do think high end digital cameras such as SLRs will still be popular, but the standard digital camera will be gone. Why do I think they will go away? The simple response is cameras integrated into cell phones. Over the past 5-10 years digital camera integration into cell phones has been a feature that most cell phone users demand. Currently most camera phones range from 0.3-2 megapixel, but there are phones out there that exceed 7 megapixels. As technology improves more and more phones will start to have higher megapixel cameras. If you’ve ever looked at any of the Sony Ericsson phones you’ll see that many of them have Sony Cybershot cameras built-in. I’m sure other cell phone manufacturers will adopt this similar practice and we’ll be seeing Canon and other camer manufacturers cameras in cell phones. Lets be honest, why would you want to carry around two separate devices when you can have two in one. Look for this to happen in the near future. Mark my words.
