Sony Ericsson Xperia X5 Concept Phone

sony-ericsson-xperia-x5-nadine-1

While we’re waiting for the next generation Xperia, the X2, to hit the market why not jump a few generations to the X5. This is not an official concept from Sony Ericsson, but someone with a “vision” of how the X5 will look. The photos came from a Korean website. The developer envisioned the phone having the following features:

  • 3.5-inch touchscreen
  • Sliding Full QWERTY Keyboard
  • 12MP camera with Auto-Focus and XENON Flash
  • HD Video Recording
  • Android
  • 3 Colors: (Chrome Silver, Ocean Blue, Sunny Orange)
  • Sony Ericsson AppStore

Again, we’re still waiting for the X2 to be release so an X5 is years away. Also, how many phone do you know that have made it to fifth generation? Not many, so for now enjoy the concept, but don’t count on it being a reality.

Sirius XM SkyDoc For Apple iPhone

skydock_landscape_ipod

This week Sirius XM introduced the SkyDoc for iPhone and iPod Touch. The Skydoc is anr accessory that plugs into your car’s cigartee lighter so you can enjoy Sirius XM radio from your iPhone via your cars sound system. Of course in order to use the Skydoc you must first have the Sirius XM app downloaded on your phone. The SkyDoc will give you access to pouplar channels such as Better yet, it gives users access to all XM and”The Best of SIRIUS” channels, even those the company infamously excludes from its online feed, like Howard Stern, MLB Play-by-Play and NFL Play-by-Play. Here’s what Serious XM has to say about the new accessory:

“XM SkyDock will allow millions of users to add live SIRIUS XM Radio capability to their iPod touch or iPhone while in their vehicle,” said Bob Law, Group Vice President and General Manager, After Market Division, SIRIUS XM Radio. “XM SkyDock makes their favorite programming from XM and ‘The Best of SIRIUS’ available to iPod touch and iPhone users anywhere they drive, coast to coast.”

In my opinion I guess this is good for users with cars that don’t have Sirius XM. Most new cars come with this feature so the accessory really isn’t necessary. It will be interesting to see if the SkyDoc takes off like Sirius XM thinks it will.

WINDOW Transparent Cell Phone Concept

window-phone5

There are kick-ass cell phone concepts and then there are KICK-ASS cell phone concepts. The WINDOW cell phone concept going into the KICK-ASS category. “The phone is designed as a thin, clear and transparent plastic sheet, which remains clear during a sunny day, becomes humid during a rainy day and takes a dump outlook during a snowy day. The user can write text messages or draw pictures on the phone in different weather conditions which will later transform and show as SMS characters. The screen features sensitive interaction with the user and comprises the state of a window in different weather conditions.” The phone is a concept phone so it doesn’t exist or might not even pysically be possible to make, but it sure is cool. See more photos of the WINDOW phone here. If this phone ever came into existence it would put all other phones to shame.

Cell Phone Manufacturers Have Complete Control Over Your Cell Phone

Yup, the title of this post is correct. When you purchase a cell phone you agree to the privacy policy and in the policy there is a line that reads ” manufacturer may collect, store, access, disclose, transmit, process and otherwise use your location data (including real time geographic information) in accordance with manufacturers privacy policy.” Can you believe it? Palm, Apple and other cell phone users should be warned. You’re being tracked and the manufacturer knows everything you’re doing. Hell, Apple even has a way to zap applications off your phone if they want. The response from manufacturers is that they need this information to improve their products. I’m all for user feedback, but taking it for free seems pretty f’ed up to me. What do you think?

Palm Pissed About Pre Android Theme

android palm pre theme

Palm has sent a cease and desist letter to the developer of the Palm Pre theme for Android to stop selling the theme. I understand that Palm wants to cover their trademark, but I think this is hilarious. If anyone should be mad it should be T-Mobile, Google and HTC. This is basically a free way for Palm to show off the look of their webOS. If I were Palm I would thank the developer for making the theme and ask if they could make the same thing for the iPhone! Come on Palm, don’t get upset because the G1 has sold over a million units. Embrace the help.

Microsoft Office To Run On Nokia Cell Phones

Nokia_Microsoft

Nokia and Microsoft have both announced that they will be holding a joint new conference in the near future? What is the news conference going to be about you may ask.  No, it’s not that Nokia and Microsoft will be joining forces to create a Microsoft cell phone.  They will be joining forces to offer Microsoft Office on Nokia’s Symbian run cell phones. The full range of Microsoft Office products have traditionally only run on Windows enabled phones. Microsoft is looking to increase their market share by extending their software to other mobile OS platforms.

Blackberry Storm 2 Is Coming!

blackberry-storm-2

Here’s visual proof that the Blackberry Storm 2 is in existence.  The Storm 2 is side-by-side with the original Storm. The Storm 2 will run on the Blackberry OS 5.x and will have an added feature or two, one of those being Wi-Fi. My guess is that the Storm 2 will be hitting Verizon stores sometime this year.
