iPhone Peekababe App

I always knew that cell phone touchscreens could be used for so much more than simply typing in phone numbers and browsing the web. With the ability to scroll and slide with the touch of a finger it was only a matter of time until somebody came up with this app. The app is Peekababe. Peekababe allow you, with a swipe of the finger, to undress women. You can quickly slide off and slide on womens clothing to reveal what they have on underneath. Sorry, but no nudity included. Just some good clean fun. The app sells for $0.99 and can be found in the Apple app store. Here’s a short demo video.

iPhone App Commercial For iPopIt by Lolerapps

Have you ever experienced an embarrassing episode of a bottle exploding you shook it? It’s probably happened to all of us at least once in our lives. The ipopit app for the iPhone simulates the same thing. You shake your iphone until the bottle or can on the screen explodes. The app was made by Lolerapps. Lolerapps created a funny, and disturbing, video showing how the app works.

iPhone SDK 3.0 Presentation

Here is the second presentation from the MoMo Chicago event held earlier this week. The first presentation was on Android vs. iPhone. The second presentation was done by Nathan Uno of Modoku.com. Nathan is an app developer for the iPhone so he definitely knows a thing or two about what’s going on in the market. His presentation talks about the iPhone SDK 3.0 along with iPhone apps in general. It’s a great video to watch and it’s very enlightening. I’ve included the slides to go along with the video.

Android vs. iPhone Presentation

Earlier this week I attended MoMo (MobileMonday) Chicago. There were two guest presenters. The first presenter was Anthony Hand who did a great presentation on Android vs. iPhone. Anthony is a UI designer for Motorola (working on the Android platform). Anthony gave an overview of both platforms included a short history, a side-by-side comparison and pros and cons of each. There are also great statistics in the presentation to back up all Anthony’s points. If you have ever wanted an overview on either platform this one is it. The presentation is not too techie yet it touches on all aspects of both platforms. I have all included Anthony’s PowerPoint deck so you can follow along! Tomorrow I will post the presentation from the second presenter, Nathan Uno of Modoku.com.

High-Level Comparison of Android Marketplace, Apple App Store and Blackberry App World

Below you’ll find a high-level comparison of the Apple App Store, Blackberry App World and Google’s Android Marketplace. There isn’t a whole lot of information, but if gives you a good idea of how they compare to one another.

Since the app market is still in its infancy there aren’t a lot of standards when it comes to the cost of applications. For example: GLU Mobile’s Build-A-Lot game costs $9.99 on BlackBerry, but $4.99 on Android and $1.99 on Apple. Also the exact same apps rate well on one app store and bad on another.  As time goes on I’m sure there will be more standardization across the board.

Old School Rotary Phone Makes A Come Back

I missed last weeks “Old School Fridays” so I thought I would start Monday with an “Old School Fridays” post. I’m sure you all remember the rotary phones of old. You know, the phones where you had to stick your finger in a hole and turn the dial for each number. With the advent of push button phones the notion of rotary phones quickly disappeared. Believe it or not rotary phones are now making a comeback, well sort of.

There is an app available in the iTunes store that can turn your iPhone into a rotary phone. The technology is based on the iPhone’s touchscreen interface. Now you can relieve the old days. There’s nothing like turning new technology retro. The app is available in the iTunes store for $0.99.
