Obama Hears A Duck (Ringtone)

During President Obama’s speech on gay rights the other day he was interrupted by a ringtone, a duck ringtone. Out of nowhere you hear a few quacks and Obama asks who’s duck it is. First of all don’t you know to turn your phone off, second who the hell has a duck quack as a ringtone.

Palm Pre GSM Available?

If you’re not a Sprint customer then you know the Palm Pre is not an option for you since it runs on CDMA networks. However, it looks like a GSM version of the Palm Pre has already been created. This is great news for AT&T and T-Mobile. If a jailbroken version becomes available or hacked then the Pre could be used on AT&T and T-Mobile networks. Here’s a video of the GSM ready Palm Pre.

Apple Sells 1 Million iPhone 3GS Devices In Three Days

Marketwatch is reporting that Apple hit the 1 million mark over the weekend. That’s 1 million iPhone 3G S devices sold. Obviously that’s a great number to hit, but I wonder what the breakdown was. How many devices were sold to customers that already had an iPhone vs. new iPhone users? Knowing iPhone users my guess is a lot of the purchases were made by existing iPhone users. That being said what are these people doing with their old iPhones. At this point there must be so many iPhones floating around the world that you could probably build a house or even a building solely out of iPhones. If you purchased the new iPhone 3G S I’m curious to know 1) where you a previous iPhone user or not and 2) if you were an iPhone user what do you plan on doing with your old iPhone.

The latest iPhone installment, the iPhone 3G S launched today. If you pre-ordered the phone you most likely have your phone already. If you didn’t pre-order and you want to wait in line go ahead. Are You Ready For A Lacoste Cell Phone

lacoste-logo

ModeLabs Group and Lacoste have come out with a joint statement to announce the launch of a Lacoste branded cell phone in 2010. I’m actually excited to hear about this. I’m a big fan of phones that are cross branded with non traditional telecommunication companies (think the FIFA branded phones, Prada, etc.). I think it brings a little added excitment to the cell phone industry. My guess is the phone will be a more traditional phone. It won’t have all the bells and whistles of a smartphone. Once I get pictures of the phone I’ll post them. Would you purchase a Lacoste branded cell phone?

I have included a link to the press release below. It’s in French, thankfully I know a few people that speak French and could translate it for me.

List Of Most Popular T-Mobile Phones via Twitter

I must say that I have no idea if these results are from a poll or official T-Mobile data, but here is a breakdown of the most popular phones used by T-Mobile customers. The list came from T-Mobile’s twitter account. It looks like G1 and Blackberries are the big winner here.

Google Android Cupcake Is Here!

So much to my surprise I was just asked to update my T-Mobile G1. With all the news around the Android update, Cupcake, I knew this had to be it. Sure enough I just finished up downloading firmware version 1.5 which is the Cupcake upgrade. I video taped the upgrade and I will have it posted here shortly. If you have a G1 look for your upgrade shortly if you haven’t received it already.

Cell Phone News From The Past Week

Sorry I haven’t posted in about a week. Things have been crazy around here. I’ve been going through a site redesign for the past couple months and now I think things are finally starting to materialize. I’m anticipating having the new look up within the next two months. Here’s a little recap of what happened in the world of cell phones while I was away:

T-Mobile announced that it’s second Android powered phone will be coming out sometime this Summer. No word on which phone it will be

The Nokia N97 is set to be released in June

If you have a Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 you should be receiving a new firmware upgrade. The upgrade is available now, it’s not automatic though. You have to find it manually using your phones menu.

Rumor: the next generation LG Viewty may have HD recording capabilities!

Sony Ericsson announced two new phones, the Aino and Yari

Palm Pre will support iTunes syncing

I think that about does it for now. As always the cell phone world is alive and well!
