Sony Ericsson Xperia X5 Concept Phone

sony-ericsson-xperia-x5-nadine-1

While we’re waiting for the next generation Xperia, the X2, to hit the market why not jump a few generations to the X5. This is not an official concept from Sony Ericsson, but someone with a “vision” of how the X5 will look. The photos came from a Korean website. The developer envisioned the phone having the following features:

  • 3.5-inch touchscreen
  • Sliding Full QWERTY Keyboard
  • 12MP camera with Auto-Focus and XENON Flash
  • HD Video Recording
  • Android
  • 3 Colors: (Chrome Silver, Ocean Blue, Sunny Orange)
  • Sony Ericsson AppStore

Again, we’re still waiting for the X2 to be release so an X5 is years away. Also, how many phone do you know that have made it to fifth generation? Not many, so for now enjoy the concept, but don’t count on it being a reality.

Microsoft Office To Run On Nokia Cell Phones

Nokia_Microsoft

Nokia and Microsoft have both announced that they will be holding a joint new conference in the near future? What is the news conference going to be about you may ask.  No, it’s not that Nokia and Microsoft will be joining forces to create a Microsoft cell phone.  They will be joining forces to offer Microsoft Office on Nokia’s Symbian run cell phones. The full range of Microsoft Office products have traditionally only run on Windows enabled phones. Microsoft is looking to increase their market share by extending their software to other mobile OS platforms.

Order Your Pizza With the Pizza Hut iPhone App

Finally there is an app that is worth downloading. Forget about all those other apps that give you a few minutes of pleasure and then you’re done. Let me introduce you to the latest and most technologically advanced way to order your pizza, the Pizza Hut iPhone app. Now you can use your iPhone to order your pizza. You can find a short demo video below (it’s absolutely hilarious). If you want peperoni on only one half of your pizza you tilt the phone in that direction. If you order wings you have to select the sauce and toss the wings in the sauce by shaking your cell phone. I never knew order pizza could be fun! If you’re lazy and don’t want to just pick up the phone and call and you want a little excitement when ordering then you’ve gotta download this app. I give Pizza Hut for not making a boring order app, other developers and companies take note.

Concept – Cell Phone Headset

With all the buzz around smartphones why not boil down the cell phone to it’s simplest form, a phone. I’m sure there are plenty of people out there that would love to simple have a "mobile phone". Forget about the camera, ability to surf the web, text, etc. Just a phone that could be used to make/receive calls. That got me thinking, why not make the worlds smallest phone.

How could this be accomplished you may ask? It would be a simple combination of three existing technologies, cell phone + headset + voice recognition software. The device would be a cell phone headset. To operate the phone all you would have to do is give voice commands similar to using a cell phone’s Bluetooth feature in a car. You could either push a button on the headset to activate the phone or do it via voice command. You would then simply have to say the number you wish to dial and the headset would dial the number. It would be that simple. When someone calls you the headset would either say who’s calling you (if you have the number stored) or would announce the number. At that point you could either push a button on the headset ot answer the phone or simply say, “answer”. Maybe a simple program could be written that would allow you to enter a phone book into the headset. All you would have to do is plug the headset into a docking station which could connect to your computer.

I have no idea if a headset phone has been invited yet, but if it hasn’t I think it would be an awesome idea. Anyone out there can feel free to use my idea. All I ask is for a little credit once it’s been built and released.

Twitter On Your Cell Phone

Twitter is growing by leaps and bounds every week. If you haven’t jumped on the Twitter bandwagon yet then I suggest you do. Everybody is talking about Twitter these days from television to print to blogs. There have been tons of mentions of Twitter on popular television programs like Access Hollywood and E!. I was even surprised when the moderator of “Meet The Press”, David Gregory, mentioned that you could follow him on Twitter after the show. When Twitter gets a mention on a serious Sunday morning political show then you know it’s made it.

The main stay of Twitter is the use of Twitter via your computer, but there are tons of free twitter applications that you can now download to your cell phone. I personally use Twidroid for my T-Mobile G1. I downloaded the application for free via the Android Marketplace. When someone I’m following writes a tweet I automatically receive a notification of my phone. It’s that simple! Some cell phones even have a Twitter application preinstalled. Since there are so many people using Twitter it’s inevitable that people will become addicted to sending tweets on their cell phone. My question is, what will be the term for a Twitter addict that uses Twitter all the time on their cell phone? Of course we have the term Crackberry for Blackberry users that can’t put down their Blackberrys. Here are some terms I though of, Twidict (twitter + addict), Tweetberry (someone who uses twitter on their blackberry), iTweeter (someone who uses Twitter on their iPhone). If you have any terms that describe a Twitter addict that uses Twitter on their cell phone post them in the comments section.

More Posts and Website Makeover

Hello everyone, I know that it has been awhile since I posted. I recently moved to Chicago and things have been a little hectic to say the least. Now that I’m settled down I’m going to make a commitment to write at least two blog posts a day. While I haven’t been writing posts I have been very busy with the redesign of the site. That’s right, trendycellular.com is going through a complete makeover. I wouldn’t call it an extreme makeover, but there will definitely be a change in the look and feel of the site. In addition I’m working on dramatically increasing the usability and functionality of the Question & Answer section of the site. Once completed the Q&A section should be on par with other well know Q&A sites such as Yahoo Answers and Mahalo Answers.  I’m very excited about this section of the site and I’m hoping to have it be THE premier place where cell phone users come to ask cell phone specific questions and receive answers from other cell phone users. My goal at this point is to have the new look and feel launched by the end of March/beginning of April.

Growing Pains – First Major Mistake

Good morning everyone. Well, it happened. I made my first big business mistake. As you might have noticed yesterday trendycellular.com did not look like the site you are use to looking at. It looked like the picture above. What happened? The domain name on the site actually ran out without me knowing it. THANKFULLY, the domain name is held for one week until it is released out to the market again. As soon as I realized the domain name had expired I bought it again. The site is now back up and running just like it was before. You can rest assured that this mistake will never happen again. I guess it’s just growing pains!

Motorola Announces Three New Phones: W388, MOTO ZN200 & W396

Motorola recently announced three new phones to their lineup. The phones include the W388, MOTO ZN200 and the W396. Just like Motorola’s previous release one phone is a flip, one is a slider and one is classic. All three phones annouced are targeted for basic users. Besides the 2 megapixel camera that the MOTO ZN200 has, the other two phones only sport a VGA (0.3) megapixel camera. All three phones share a few similar features including a MP3 player, FM radio and microSD expansion slot. Techno addicts won’t be jumping at the bit to purchase these phone, but “basic” cell phone users should be pleased with the new additions. Look for all three phones to be released later this year.

Motorola ROKR EM30 Music Phone

To round out the three latest phones announced by Motorola here is the ROKR EM30. This phone was designed with the music buff in mind. I would say that this phone is a music player first and a cell phone second. The phone has a cool looking user interface for listening to your favorite MP3s or your favorite FM radio station. The phone has a 2 megapixel camera, but lacks a flash. Just like the other two phones the ROKR EM30 is set to go on sale later this year. Carrier(s) have yet to be announced. My guess is this will be a budget phone and a good seller. You can see all the specifications and photos for the phone on trendycelluar.com.
