Credit Card Size Cell Phone – Environmentally Friendly

OK all you smaller is better cell phone lovers and environmentalist. A phone is set to come out in the near future for you. The phone above is the size of a credit card and as thick (or should I say thin) as three credit cards stacked. The cell phone is called the Card Mobile Phone and was shown recently at the CTIA show in Las Vegas.

The cell phone is the creation of Real Phone Card, a company out of San Diego. The phone is a dual band GSM GPRS which has either a color or monochrome screen. The phone provides 200 minutes of talk time, and has canned text messages included. The phone does not have a key pad. You make calls by navigating an onscreen key pad, but it also has built-in voice dialing. On top of all of this the Card Mobile phone is waterproof. How about that!

If you’re looking to get your hands on one you’ll have to wait. The phone will first launch in India later this year and possibly the US afterwards. Also, there is no price tag at this time. Here’s what the phones creators have to say:

“Creating a credit card size phone at less than 1/4 ” thick, with these features took quite a bit of creative design”, explained Founder and Chief Technical Officer Bob Czajkowski,“ and this is the first time voice recognition software has ever been put in a single chip entry level handset.”

I’m really looking foward to this phone hitting the market. For places like India this phone is sure to be a HUGE hit.
